  5. What you now have are databases of every single to reach Number 1 on Bill-
  6. board's Hot 100 Pop Singles chart (or its earlier equivalents) from January 
  7. 1, 1938 through September 22, 1990 and every album to reach Number 1 on Bill-
  8. board's Pop Album charts from May 28, 1955 through September 22, 1990.  Each 
  9. entry includes the title of each song, the artist, the date the record first 
  10. reached #1, and the total number of weeks the record stayed at number 1.  I 
  11. intend to keep this data fully up to date with regular updates.

  13. This Archive contains five files:
  14.  
  15.   POPHITS  BAS            A sample QuickBasic demo program to query the data
  16.                              base (assumes the POPHITS.DEL file to be in the
  17.                              current directory).
  18.   POPHITS  DBF            The complete data base in dBASE format
  19.   POPHITS  DEL            The complete data base in comma delimited format
  20.   POPHITS  EXE            The compiled QuickBasic query program
  21.   READ     ME             This file.

  23. The .EXE and .DEL files are the only ones needed to use the query program.
  24. The .DBF file is compatible with PC-File 5.0 and PC-Tools Deluxe.
  25. The .DBF may also be used in other applications via file conversions, for
  26. example, the Lotus 1-2-3 Translate utility will convert it to a worksheet.

  28. For SYSOPS, there is a PC-Board/GAP compatible door called TopHits available
  29. which utilizes the included .DEL file.  This door was written by Addison Ching,
  30. and is available on any of the boards listed below and on the Salt Air BBS.
